LEDs v Traditional lighting
Traditional lighting for equestrian sand schools and ménages has
been achieved by using either Halogen, High Pressure Sodium
(HPS) or Metal Halide (MH) lighting. These lights are not always
ideal for the application for a number of reasons:
High Power consumption relative to light output – at least 50% of the power consumed by existing systems is Infra Red energy – useless for the primary purpose of illumination. This energy waste is detected as heat – Halide, Sodium and Halogens run very hot….all of this is energy you are wasting!
HPS and Halide systems require a “warm up” period – to achieve maximum brightness after several minutes of being switched on; in this phase these lights are highly inefficient.
LEDs are relatively cool in heat unlike many alternatives which
also give the added benefit of safety within what is considered a vulnerable environment for fire hazards.

Understanding LED Systems
Our LED lights are specially designed for High visual needs and run at very low colour temperatures. Unlike many similar lighting systems which operate at a much higher colour temperatures. This is not to be confused with actual temperature. A higher Colour rendition light compered to a halogen lamp A LED light has a higher colour rendition resulting in a crisper and cleaner light. This aids vision considerably as humans, horses and other animals do not see well under low temperature e.g. yellow/orange type of light.
With the Red and Ultra Violet energy produced by the LED system the lights run at dramatically reduced temperatures – lower temperatures means longer life with around 30,000 hours of continuous use should be expected. That means once installed they should hardly need any maintenance at all.
