Questions and Answers
We have put a few Q's & A's together that we feel may assist in your quest
Q) Why do I need lights either side of the ménage?
A) Using lights only on one side of the ménage will create large shadows across the arena. By installing lights either side they will cancel each other out.
Q) We have visited a ménage that you installed two years ago and was impressed with the installation . We would like to install your lighting pole system at out ménage . The problem we have is the ménage is 95 m’s away from the nearest electrical supply. We have had a quote from our electrical contractor and its going to cost us more than the install of the lights. Is there any way we can get over this?
A) This is often overlooked and happens a lot. However to initially get over this problem we have suggested in the past to our clients to have the lights and perimeter cabling installed and then run the lights off a small electric generator until such time you can afford the mains supply. But note that the generator must be a sign wave generator other wise it could possibly blow the LEDs up using a normal power generator.
Q) My electrician said that he can get led lights from his wholesaler to replace my existing lights. Can you tell me why I should consider using your products instead ?
A) First of all yes he is correct he can buy LEDS from his wholesaler. Now ask him what Diversity factor is being given by the manufactures. ? How many Fittings would he have to buy to give the same Kelv and Lumi output as our EQ-LEDS ? Are the replacement LED lamps designed for the fitting. Is the reflective lens of a symmetric type because if its not it will be inefficient and will give an uneven light distribution. These are just a few q’s that all add up to very costly and with out any doubt will be giving you fittings/lights that are not fit for purpose.
Our lights are design with incredible efficiency and have an unbeatable high level of outputs with symmetric reflector;s wide 120 angle beams, high Lm/w and extremely high colour values of 6500 Kelvs.
Q) Are the poles be left or right handed drop.
A) Yes they can. We generally supply left for one side and right for the other, so it looks like they all pull down the same way. However sometimes there maybe a gate in the way so you would alternate to what would be best for your ménage. But when ordering make sure that you have taken this into consideration, because where you put the retaining post is important.
Q) My planning officer has asked for isolux diagrams so they can see what lighting levels and effects that they may have on light pollution. I am afraid this has gone over my head as I do understand what these are. Please can you assist with these requests?
A) First of all the isolux drawings are expectations of light levels and colour outputs that will be given from the lights when installed at set points across the arena.. This will enable the officer to calculate if there is likely to be any issues with light pollution etc. At the end of the day all the officer is really concerned with is if there is going to be light pollution to the surrounding neighbours and environment. If you do face these problems then we can assist with the drawing and recommend that you use the EQ-SHADES that will give you the advantage on controlling virtually all light pollution to virtually nothing.
Q) We have no experience in building or lighting, do you offer a service where you can come out and inpsect our premises.
A) YES. We offer a full design and installation service. If you would like a site survey we could arrange one at a mutual time of convenience. Surveys are worth their weight in gold.
Q) My daughter has used a ménage retractable lighting company to install lights at her livery. They are of a type called tungsten. She is spending over £20 per week on lamp replacements. We have been on your website and although your LED lights do look more expensive than the ones she has at the moment, are yours more efficient and do they last longer.
A) With using tungsten or vaporised lamps they all have fault issues because they are of a mechanical structure and become very hot. This decreases their life span making them more susceptible to damage through sudden movement or fault currents. With EQ-LEDS they are of a solid state structure with no movable parts when light is created. Also they use all their energy to create light and not heat. What should also be taken into consideration is the difference in cable sizing and cost's for high wattage use. EQ-LED fitting use around 80% less energy and therefore require smaller sized cable and no control contactors.
Q) Our friends brought some lights from you last year and after shopping around and seeing other products we can now see they are a far better design and have a higher light output than any of the other systems we have seen.. They brought the lights as a kit and even though they thought they could install the poles themselves , they wished they had got you to install them. Do you still offer an installation service if we was to purchase them.
A) Yes is the answer.
Q) Please can you give us a quote for delivery and install in France.
A) Yes. But what has to be considered is the French have different electrical installation regulations than the UK. So I suggest that we do what we call a supply and assist. This means we will deliver on site and agree a rate for our attendance with your local electrician there to install.
Q) Most of your questions and answers are for ménages why not tennis and cricket or other sports.
A) That’s a good QUESTION . We got involved with ménage lighting due a to fault on a system that was installed by another ménage retractable lighting company who refused to come out and rectify the fault. We repaired the fault but found that the system was not very well made and really not fit for purpose . So we redesigned the whole pole mechanics and looked into lighting requirements for horses . That's where we started and that's where most of the questions have been asked about, but if you have any quations about any other sport please do not hesitate to contact us.
Q) How do I get cables around the ménage for the lights?
A) The cables are fed from an Isolation point on the outside of the arena. Cables are then fixed at low level on the bottom bar of the fencing round to a 16a female socket ready for the trailing lead to be connect to the pole system.
Q) Do the poles fit into the ground?
A) The 4m poles are designed to be installed on a structurally sound post. The 5m poles have to be installed on a minimum of a 5 inch x 5 inch wooden post sunk into the ground. Full details as available on application.
